Mail.com uses Flash for the entire interface. If you're using a browser that can block parts of a webpage (a very useful feature in Opera), you can't turn off the ads on mail.com. Either everything stays on or off, not the things you want. And if your computer can't use flash, you can't use the site.
As well, you will be inundated with spam from mail.com. It doesn't matter how many filters, automatic moving of spam to the spam folder or blocking of the email address "email@example.com", their spam will get through it all. And given that they toss out an average of one piece of spam per day or more, it gets damn annoying in a very short time.
