GMX Mail - Free Email Service
1 out of 5Blocked AccountJuly 25, 2011
By MidnightLady2011
I opened an account and all was just fine for several weeks. Then they blocked me from my own account. I had mail bouncing everywhere & still do after weeks & changing my address once again. I wrote to them & got a form letter back requesting information of which I provided. I never heard back and the account remains blocked. I wrote to them again, only to get the same form letter. This is terrible to offer a free account & then block you out & hold your mail hostage for no reason at all. Big mistake by trusting gmx mail.

I have been testing it since a couple of weeks, tons of fails, completely unrelaiable, what can I say it is just a fail. GMX Mail, appears to beusing people as a testing batch. It is fully buggy. Support service is the worst ever.
5 out of 5Great POP3 emailJune 28, 2011

I don't normally put reviews on here, but seeing all the poor reviews I thought I should put one on. I don't know why so many people have had problems, but I have been using gmx for the last couple of years and have had no problems at all. You can send and receive 50mb emails and there is UNLIMITED email storage for free accounts. I admit, I don't use all the features of file storage and sharing, but for people who just want a decent POP email it works great. I've used it with outlook, thunderbird and on android phones and all have been quick and easy to set up and work fine. I use the gmx.com site, and I think there is also a .net version? Perhaps this is the one that people have problems with?
1 out of 5Horrible service & worst costumer support!!June 28, 2011
By falfolyzozo
I would give not even 1 single star if I can! I can't log in my account even I typed my username and password correctly. I went to their users' forum and I found many ppl have the same problem. I tried the solutions mentioned there and I also followed 'forget password' instruction to reset my password. I received links in my contact email, reset my new password, it showed new password was saved and change was made successfully. But When I tried to log in again, I still can't access my account. Reset my password several times and got the same result. Contacted them three times, always got auto reply to repeat the same instruction which doesn't work at all.

Pay attention, they try every trick to make you subscribe some on payment service. Just a wrong click and they claim you subscribed a contract. No need of confirmation on your side and no way to reject it (subscribing procedure is really ""automatic"", but unsubscribing is incredibly complex or impossible without a lawyer). They use collection agencies in order to intimidate costumer that refuse to pay service non subscribed or subscribed by means of these tricks. DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR REAL NAME AND ADDRESS
1 out of 5Email Service that does not serve customer needs..June 01, 2011
By kimsmom1971
I wasted time trying to use the file storage so that I could share the photos - I had used the online support - yet after wasting time trying to set up the system to share files, I was given the same 2 things from the ONLINE SUPPORT that I had already tried in an email. If something does not work, it should be removed or at least warn people of possible problems - it is not my job to figure out the gmx email center - I came to use it - AND I CAREFULLY FOLLOWED DIRECTIONS - WHICH IS WHY I AM SO ANGRY ABOUT AN HOUR OR MORE SPENT trying to figure out how to do it, using gmx online directions!!! I almost canceled my other email services, I was so in love with this gmx thing - they quickly made an unbeliever of me. You can not be a service if you have no effective customer service.

Look at their Forum and will see how many problems the users have. Many of us cannot reply mails and cannot compose new mails. Letters of complaint are not answered by the Support staff.

In past, as one of the users correctly said this email had a lot of troubles. But i believe they copy with because all work properly now. What i like most is that i can see the posts, tweets or emails from other services (facebook, tweeter, gmail/aol/yahoo etc). However, try to keep your inbox within the regular limit.

I was happily using GMX for two weeks. Then a friend called and said email to my account was being kicked back. I discovered that my account was blocked. Before signing up for GMX do an internet search on “GMX mail blocked” and read all the sad stories. The block will happen for no reason and GMX will not respond. Some conspiracy types think that GMX randomly blocks accounts forcing people to get new accounts and by so doing padding there claim for the number of people using their service. But for us that listen to Michael Medved we know that the word conspiracy does not exist.

I have been using this for a long time now and it is great. I use this as my main email and i only use Ubuntu linux. Setting up Evolution can be a little tricky as there is no step by step for it but just read the pop3 imap help and use ssl and the @gmx.com needs to be in your login id. They used to have a problem with importing and exporting email but it seems to be all sorted out and is working like a charm. Now if only i can figure out a non linux pda device that will sync with evolution i will be set.

I signed in to gmx based upon About's rating and was severely disappointed. All links in emails sent to you re-direct to gmx. When I went to the forum there was a post up from a moderator on this issue. While the mod admitted that there was an issue, the mod still attempted to push blame on users and posted a link to a site to verify the issue was not from the user. The site linked was reported by Google as an attack site and that is when I left gmx forever. Their mail service is unusable to me if they hijack the links in emails and it appears they are always having one issue or another from my reading of their forum. there are many better choices for free email-stay away from this one.

I have gathered by the poor reviews in 2009 that GMX has suffered its share of bugs and glitches. I just joined today, somewhat curious to see if those things still haunt the service. Thus far, all is well. Well, almost. I read before signing up that you have a 50MB attachment limit in GMX (impressive), so I tried to test a ""sending a large file"" email with a 16MB RGB TIFF file. The message was bounced. I changed the format to JPEG (7MB file size) and the text email went through to the intended destination. Not certain why the larger file size wasn't accepted. Was it the size or the format? I guess I'll have to run more experiments to find out. Needless to say, the ""50MB limit"" may not necessarily apply, depending upon what type of file you're sending. The lack of support is indeed another problem with GMX. They do have a ""forum"" that discusses known issues, but this isn't an equal substitute at all. With a little more attention to common sense issues, GMX will be a superior email service in the future.

GMX mail offers a five GB e-mail storage, and a 2GB file storage. The interface is savvy, and different than most e-mail providers you may see. GMX offers drag and drop folder integration, and has an online forum where the GMX community communicates with one another about issues, comments or suggestions they might have. Don't want to receive e-mails from an unknown address? GMX allows you to block e-mail addresses, allows up to 10 alias e-mails per user, and sends out GMX update e-mails about every two weeks. Busy doing work, and don't want to keep checking for e-mails constantly? GMX mail notifier plays a sound by your request when you receive a new e-mail in your inbox. GMX also offers free POP/IMAP. For all that GMX has to offer, it's one of the best out there, but does not have one thing all of it's competitors have - it lacks SMS and Chat. Though GMX lacks chat/sms, it has a tabbed mail interface, with a ""home"" tab where you can add widgets provided by GMX, or you may embed your own. Overall, GMX is a great service and is suggested to all people. You can create filters, and import mail from the mail collector feature from any provider you have, even another GMX account. Though GMX is rated 4 of 5 stars, that doesn't take away the faults that GMX has, but what e-mail doesn't have a few faults? GMX is free for all and you have a good chance at getting an ID name that you like with GMX, as when someone deletes their account, the name becomes available again after a few months. GMX: Global Mail Exchange is webmail/email provider that is in beta mode, and we hope to see them succeed as they are such a wonderful service. GMX link: GMX.com

I created a new email account from GMX for my job hunt and started sending out CV's with my GMX address. I always had login issues with this account however yesterday I couldn't login for a long-time when I most need it. GMX admitted there is an issue and it has been resolved after 1-2 hours. Although it has some nice features like mail collector, file storage and a nice interface; this service is not reliable yet and I cannot recommend it.

I've only had the morning to test this out, so this is a first impression review. They take security pretty seriously-- they sent a test message I sent to myself to the spam folder. It was pretty easy to set up the email account in MS Outlook 2010. Even though I actually like the web interface, I will likely use this email through Outlook. However it's worth it to note that you can change the setting of how it's laid out and adjust it until you are comfortable. I found the file storage manager to be the most intriguing feature. You are able to upload and organize files and have access to them from multiple computers, which is useful for me as a student.

This company , GMX Mail, appears to beusing people as a testing batch. You will set up an account and soon after you will be able to log in but your account will never fully load. Twice . No matter what browser, will not load. I have asked my account to be cancleed twice and they refuse. BAD program. I jave seen many similar negative reviews

Used GMX for a year with no problems but the past six months has been really bad. A reviewer below used a great word to describe GMX, ""buggy."" Every day I have these weird little glitches that either won't let me log in, create an email, or forward emails. Lots of server errors. I'm trying it on networks at school, work, and home and have problems at each place. Another abnoxious thing it does is when you leave your email open and work on a different screen, it constantly pops up and moves itself to the forefront. So while you think your typing a paper, you look up and realize the last two sentences you typed aren't there. Maybe that can be turned off? Not sure. The one good thing I will say is that it loads photos much better than other email accounts I've had

I have no idea what is going on with the other reviewers. I've only had good experiences with GMX. The web interface is well done and easy to use. It's reliable and IMAP access is most certainly still available for free. I've used their mail fetching service to consolidate my accounts, and it has been ideal for me. Works with Outlook perfectly. I'm absolutely mystified by all the bad reports here.
1 out of 5Access Blocked within 24 hoursAugust 10, 2010
By Shaun_Cole
I signed up for GMX due to the outstanding interface design and promise of 2GB storage space for files. This sounded like the answer to what I've been looking for. The first thing I did was setup my GMX email to forward to my domain email so that I could go back in later to check it out without losing any email. The next day I try to login and find that my access it blocked. I submitted a form for support but in the email notification I received there was a statement that shocked me: ""Please note that we cannot respond to all submissions individually due to volume..."" I decided to give them a chance to reply but went searching to see if anyone else had the issues. What I found greatly disturbed me. In order to submit anything to the forum you have to have a valid GMX account. Another words, I'd have to create ANOTHER GMX account to submit my problem. I don't want two GMX accounts. Especially not just to have one so that I can report the problem. It sounds to me like GMX wants to falsify their subscriber count by forcing those blocked to create another account to get REAL help on the forums. While in the forums I found several people with the same problem dating over a year ago. Some of which have not had a response from GMX on their issue. Even the moderator stopped responding to issues 6 months ago. In one case the moderator admits that when someone creates another account to ask a question in the forums, that the additional account may be blocked as well. Even when checking out their page on Facebook, several users complain about blocked accounts and claim that they also have had zero response from GMX. While I understand there is a fine line between excessive users and spammers when using automatic procedures, there is a point to be labeled as useless. I believe GMX is there. My account was blocked in less than 24 hours without warning after sending 0 emails and receiving 0 emails. I had high hopes for GMX, but it appears that this is just one service that is going to go away soon because they can't get their procedures in order. GMX is to webmail as TSA is to airport security. Overzealous and insufficient.

GMX IS NO GOOD period!! They blocked my sisters account without reason or warning and I have sent many many emails and after a month they send me an email wanting a copy of id or something, ridiculous! To top that off facebook disabled her account because her email was not valid and the only way to get THAT back is to write an email from her original login email address which is impossible because it's GMX and they won't unblock it!!! SCAM! BOO! BAD CUSTOMER SUPPORT! CARELESS! DO NOT GET A GMX ACCOUNT!! 2 THUMBS DOWN! :-P
1 out of 5Sluggish, buggy, blocks accounts for no reasonJune 24, 2010

Stay away from this email provider. At first it looks nice on the outside. But behind its shiny interface it stinks. I registered an account and logged in from time to time to play around with it and try its interface. Then I thought it's fine and I'm ready to switch and use it. It seemed the perfect solution. But I was so wrong. First of all, the performance is a major issue. Well, it seemed they're working on it, as it improved over time. However, login and logout still take ages. I could live with that. But I cannot live with the fact that my account was blocked only after a few weeks. And I wasn't alone. I went to their forums and saw dozens of threads having the same issue. GMX email system somehow is buggy and blocking accounts for no reason. Well, I wrote to the support and asked them to unblock it. So they did. Fine. However, not nice when you're using this account for business emails and suddenly have to wait a few days until it gets unblocked. Anyway, I then thought this issue will get fixed. After all, GMX is new on the international email provider market (although they've been active in Germany already for many years). But then I stumbled upon new problems. GMX got more and more buggy, or most probably those issues only get noticed when actually using it daily. GMX randomly loses content, i.e. emails from your inbox and displays many error messages when loading dialog boxes in their Ajax interface. It simply doesn't work properly and is a pre-beta version at best. But they chose to release it to the public already, and now the users are the ones who have to cope with it and are abused as bug reporters. If you want safe, reliable email, stick with the big ones, e.g. AIM, Hotmail, Google or Yahoo. But for goodness sake, don't go to GMX.

When gmx works it offers a lot, particularly (for me) the combination of picking up messages from a provider that does not provide an IMAP address, and then letting me download them using IMAP. As some have pointed out, however, they are overly conservative about how many messages you can send; if I send something to my choir's board of directors that's pretty much the last thing I can do for 45 minutes; and I could not send a message to the entire choir at all. But the support is nearly non-existent and often counterproductive. I think I experience more service interruptions than on other services, although not everyone agrees with me on that. But 72 hours ago GMX just stopped accepting SMTP connections (such as through Thunderbird). After a dozen or so people complained (to the forum, the closest thing they have to a support address), the ""helpful"" suggestion was ""you must have misconfigured your email client"". As if a dozen users would simultaneously change something that had been working to something that didn't. That's the last word we've had from GMX. Users have documented that there are problems with the site's certificate, and some have reported restoring their SMTP connection by using a .net extension to the IMAP address (even though GMX specifically says that this won't work). So GMX users are hard at work on the problem; but GMX has not fixed it nor has it even acknowledged that there is a problem. If you can tolerate that kind of treatment, then GMX might be for you.

Hi, Yesterday I got GMX email. I already have Yahoo!, Hotmail/Live, Gmail and AOL. Gmail has been the best so far but I wanted to try a smaller company so I tried gmx. It has been great so far. The layout pretty good and lots of speed. I would strongly suggest this to ""anyone"" wanting a good email service. Hope you found this helpful!

regretfully, here have registerred to About.com in order to tell the bad experience with GMX. Have not been luck enough to further use GMX services, because my email account had been blocked and remained blocked since the successful registration to it - April 4, 2010. Though I submitted for this problem and received a routine check message from GMX Forum moderator, nothing happened after all. Trust there must be millions of blocked accounts, so that mine has been postponed till today or even someday in far future. This may be the price paid for something free of charge, but seemingly only applicable in the case of GMX.

If there is an email service provider you should not use it is GMX. I signed up last August and it’s been hell all the way. The first thing I noticed is that it was slow to move between messages and it took ages to get logged in and logged out. Then the error messages started coming such as “flash error, unable to upload files” and “unable to load messages.” More followed such as “unable to load email headers”, “couldn’t find cookies” and “no longer connected to server”. It has been a deluge of messages unheard of with other ESPs. The most recent was “unable to load file with no data” despite the fact that it had over 100KB of content. Why shouldn’t I be able to send an empty file anyway as I often run an empty fridge. Concerning the first error the support team said that I needed the most up-to-date Flash player to run the application successfully as this was to prevent security being breached. Firstly, I felt their answer was an excuse (how do other ESPs manage?) and secondly, I use public computers in the library or Internet cafe and I am either unable to install new programs or would not feel the inclination to. I would imagine that many people who do not have the Internet would be in the same boat so the “anonymous” service that GMX provides would be unsuitable for them. Subsequent answers received concerning the other error codes were just conjecture, meaning that they had no idea. As if that wasn’t enough more latterly I’ve been receiving a Windows message saying Fehler Beim Starten, and since I don’t speak foreign languages I have no idea what it means. The support team said “send me a screenshot”. How on earth do I do that? The whole experience has been very frustrating but more of an embarrassment for GMX. My advice to people would be to avoid it like the plague!!!
1 out of 5Loses folder contents and does not provide supportMarch 28, 2010

I've use the gmx mail collector to keep the contents of different email accounts in one place. It was more convenient than going from website to website to read messages and clear my inbox. Last month, gmx lost the entire contents of one folder. When I try to go to that folder I get the notice: ""Unable to load messages"" These were messages that were already imported by gmx. I had to wait weeks for a response from support and the replies were not even helpful. When gmx was working well, it was a good service, but something has happened and they spend more time adding unnecessary bells and whistles, instead of maintaining the services that are already implemented. I am looking for another solution.

This is a great email service until you need support. They have no support. For example, I have a problem with my account. I used it for a month then put the email address on my business cards. Now the account does not work and I cannot get a reply from anyone there. Bottom line, if you need a free account that you do not rely on, this will work. If you rely on them, they will dissapoint you because they have NO customer support. Good Luck!

I've used GMX for several years and absolutely love it! I use GMX in Outlook Express! - it works like a charm and with my DSL connection I can ALWAYS get my mail instantly, no delays, and emails go out just as fast. I've nothing critical to say about GMX - they deserve a gold medal! They don't even tag my emails! One thing I especially like is that I can have up to TEN alias email addresses, which comes in very handy for dealing with websites that are a risk for spam, because I can delete the alias if it becomes a problem. GMX is constantly working on improvements - they will send out notifications occasionally to let you know the latest. When I saw a one point that they were now 13 million strong and counting, I was happy for GMX because they have earned it and they deserve all the accolades they are receiving. GMX, you rock! And thank you very much for years of excellent service and all for free!

Be careful if you decide to use the GMX mail service. Don't be fooled by the two star rating ... it's even worse than that! They have a SEVERE spam problem. They are BLACKLISTED at several web sites, such as craigslist. GMX blocks many users' accounts from access because they have apparently been hijacked by spammers or the accounts have been flagged by a flawed security system. YOUR account will probably be stolen and/or blocked at some point. Customer support is bad - they will lock you out of your account without notice and then justify not even responding back to you unless you provide them with another email address. Whereas, they could just block SMTP until they resolve THEIR problem, they choose to lock you out completely and 'hold hostage' your incoming emails. If you don't value support, security, privacy, convenience, your time and patience, then GMX is the mail service for you!

I thought I could try out a new email provider and bmx looked good, so I created an email address. Logged in, looked around a bit. Looked easy and very user-friendly. Changed a few of the default settings in the settings menu. Composed an email (with some random text, an small image and a small attachment) and send it to my gmail address. After I saw the email arriving (in gmail) I went back to gmx and nothing worked anymore, I could click all kinds of things but nothing happened. I though I just needed to log in again, so deleted any cookies and restarted the browser only to view the message ""your account has been blocked!"" Browsing the forums I noticed they claimed that ""system has noticed a massive flood of spam-attacks"" and therefore started blocking people. If 1 (!!!) mail (in half around 20 minutes) causes an account the be blocked, then I'm sure to not trust them with any other mails I have. (What if hey block me at the moment I'm wainting for an important mail?) Protecting against spam is good, blocking new people for sending 1 email is something totally different.

I thought I'd try something different from the main players like yahoo, gmail, and hotmail which I currently use. I received my first email which was a link to activate a ad posting on another site. The link was not clickable and right clicking to copy and paste was also not available. Making this email service useless for me. A total waste of time.

Looks good initially. After a while you realize this email system has many serious flaws. To name a few, can't cut and paste using web based email, can be very slow, doesn't support all browsers or email clients, accounts get randomly blocked, emails in Inbox disappear or have no text, links in emails send you to GMX home page, emails from GMX accounts blocked by some other email providers and, most importantly, limited to sending to ten email recipients in an hour (yes that is ten emails to single addresses, two emails to five addresses or one email to ten addresses), any more and the emails are rejected. Support is almost non existent (and contact addresses are not even present on the website) and if you do get it from a helpful forum member and are lucky enough to get a reply within two weeks (many don't even get that) you will be fobbed off with a ""thanks very much, we will look into it"" and then never hear another word (or see the error fixed). A very unprofessional company.

GMX free e-mail promises some great features: no ads, lots of storage, good security, ease of use, fast response. At first I was really pleased, but as the problems keep mounting up, I'd like to warn anybody away from risking their mail here. They simply can't deliver what they promise - at this time. Forget about the fast response. Replies from gmx usually take about 72 hours. Many help pages were not available yet. Then sometimes whole e-mails, previously opened, were missing! That is, my e-mails were all listed, but when I opened them there was nothing in there. That problem was corrected. Then the same thing happened in my draft folder. All the drafts I had made were listed, but only about 1/2 were actually there; the other 1/2 could be clicked on, but nothing was in them. I have no idea if that has been corrected because the latest problem is that I have been blocked from my e-mail!!! I have no idea why. I'm a middle-aged mom, and the last thing I did was draft an e-mail to my bookgroup. No, I have not done anything illegal or illicit!!!! This happened Tuesday. I have frantically tried to contact gmx because I have family photos and important messages on the site, but there hasn't been any response. I tried going on the gmx forum where I saw other rankled members have been blocked as well, but I couldn't even get on the forum. Gmx can only be contacted by e-mail. They do not answer their phone.

I was really excited to open a GMX account. I liked the user interface with no advertisements for distractions, however it seemed to really lag ALOT!! I used this oh maybe a week and only actually sent out 2 emails, then I tried to log on again and it said my account was blocked. I emailed GMX support and got a response back: ""As part of our security system, we regularly monitor activity in our mail system. We noticed a security issue regarding your account and have therefore limited access to your account until additional security measures can be completed."" ""We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. In order to assist us with this security check, we ask that you send us a photocopy or scan of your ID (driver's license, stundent ID or similar form of identification will suffice) proving that you are the owner of the account. You can send this to us via the address"" SERIOUSLY! It sounds like their trying to violate my security by asking me to send them my personal information. I have never been asked such a hiddious questions from an e-mail provider! So watch out for this! It could be a SCAM!!!

I have tried everything from AOL to Yahoo to Live and back. I decided to give GMX a shot and I am nothing but pleased. They did have my birthday off my 1 day, big deal who cares? The service itself, is great. It brought over all of my email from my other clients, the filter works great as well. POP3 works for me and I am on a free account, you dont have to pay like another reviewer said. This is great, I think I finally found what I need for my work and personal email.

GMX mail is a useful mail if you spare time on your hands. This email consists of useful settings such as 5 GB of storage and useful folders which enable you to use as a place for putting your files. GMX does take a while to load on slower computers, but the spam filter and other functions are pretty handy. Adding labels would be useful and the background wallpapers available could be expanded and modified to be more elusive and original. For a free email, this certainly meets the key requirements. I tried signing up for this e-mail service. It wouldn't load my inbox and stayed on the login page after reloading about 3-4 times over a 20 minute period. It doesn't even deserve 1 star. Not sure how it made 3rd on the free e-mail list on about.com... hmm..

great that it can access all my other emails - but it is slow and buggy. It's really lacking in quality since it does not allow for presorting of emails. What's the point of gathering all your emails in one spot if you cannot auto sort them.....I use to use ypops for my outlook 2003 - but now that can't work. Also I have tried many times to import my contacts from outlook 2003 - it won't work. I even tried just importing just 4 names - no luck!!!! Good idea but needs a lot of developement!

Just one picayune with the account. Why is everything so tiny?? Former AOL member who got used to LARGE icons and text. Also, hard to differentiate those tiny blue colored Folders from one another. There's so much empty Heading on Top and everything is unnecessarialy cramped below. Also, some technical minor annoyances - but for Free - I think it's one of the premier E-mail Services I've tried. And no inside ads at all! So, I think it's a terrific trade-off. Squarecoin

1 out of 5GMX Mail - terrible customer serviceMarch 19, 2009

I decided there must be something better than microsoft's email, so I kept my hotmail for usual use and found gmx. I decided to trial it before switching completely from hotmail, so I gave my address to only my girlfriend, and my parents and grandparents. I emailed them regularly and was relatively pleased with gmx, despite some of the functions still being under development. Then one day, I could not log in. I emailed gmx a few times about this before I got the following unhelpful response: ""There have been reports of spam being sent from your account. Hence, we were forced to deactivate it."". Totally untrue. Use at your own risk. Don't use is my recommendation.

Can't see the point of having this as an email account if unable to access it on your PDA. Why they don't do a mobile version I have no idea. Contacted there support and was told it was probably because my PDA did not support features found in IE7 or Firefox and was advised to set a POP3 account up, which I don't want to do. Do that on my PC. Also it has the annoying habit of opening all the tabs i.e. calender, notes, address book etc in a new window, and each one takes an infernal time to load. My response - cancelled my account and now use inbox.com, which I find is excellent AND I can access via my PDA - they do a mobile version!
3 out of 5good service, poor interfaceFebruary 13, 2009

GMX offers a great set of features, and the service is reliable. Free IMAP access is great. The problem with GMX lies in it's interface. For starters, everything opens in popup windows -- mail, calendar, contacts, files all open in separate popup windows. The AJAX-laced interface is also very buggy. I also find that the interface isn't logical compared to other services, which I feel is due to the service being developed in Europe (GMX is based in Germany). If you're looking for a free IMAP account, GMX is a great choice. But if you're looking for a new primary email account, you might want one with a more refined interface.

What a mess GMX is. If you want to consistantly send and receive your email, then DON'T USE GMX!!! Their server limits how many emails per hour you can send so if you are working on a project or have a lot of emails to send out - don't use GMX. I had many reports from friends and clients that they had their emails to me returned with a message saying server was down or blocked. I got messages when trying to send and receive saying my account was disabled.
2 out of 5Poor Handling of Multiple AddresseesFebruary 05, 2009
By smithd42
While GMX seems to work well through Outlook 2007 for routine, personal, limited addressee e-mails, it will not handle distributions to more than 11 recipients in one send, nor (it seems) to more than 11 recipients in one hour, if sneding to fewer addressees. As somebody who has to e-mail 40 members of a club this makes GMX totally unsuitable for my purposes.
2 out of 5Spam filtering? What spam filtering?December 17, 2008
By bobwaters
I really had high hopes for GMX. The German version had an excellent rep, the About.com review was great, and I was really impressed by something which turned out to be rather ironic: its much-touted spam filtering. I noticed right away that it took forever to load. That's how I had my first contact with twhat at the time I thought was the one bright spot GMX has: excellent, responsive tech support. At their suggestion, I began using the secure login site (just make it ""https://"" instead of ""http://""), and the problem was much improved. Eventually the site started loading faster at the regular site, too. This is, after all, still a beta service, and GMX does seem to work hard at fixing its bugs; that much, I have to say. The deal breaker was that suddenly, inexplicably- I had used my GMX account for absolutely nothing that could have led to this- my inbox started being flooded with hundreds of spam emails for pornographic sites. And this, from a service which supposedly had spam filtering as one of its strengths! This time tech support- I used the message board- failed utterly. All I got was advice not to use my address in places where would-be spammers could get it. SInce I hadn't done so, I found this rather frustrating. I wouldn't rule out trying GMX again in the future. It is, once again, a beta site, they do seem to be working hard on it, and I'd like to see it succeed. But Heinz to the contrary, right now they just aren't ready for prime time.
5 out of 5GMX Is The Best WebmailNovember 22, 2008

I love this email program. I use Seamonkey to surf the net, and I added the IE Tab. When I access GMX mail, it does not pop up in a separate window, it comes up in a tab on my browser. So far I haven't gotten any spam, the web interface is much superior to Gmail's and considering that I have dial up, it loads rather quickly. With the ability to receive emails from my Hotmail and Yahoo accounts on GMX's interface, I could not be happier. Thanks to this site for introducing me to this webmail provider. GMX is the ""Ultimate Webmail"".

WORKED FOR THE FIRST WEEK. THEN EVERYTIME SINCE, I RECEIVE NOTHING BUT ""YOUR LOGIN WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL PLEASE TRY AGAIN. CLICK HERE TO VISIT ONLINE HELP."" I visit the online help and report the problem twice. They tell me to delete all previous cookies, cache, history, etc...reboot computer and attempt to log back into account. I did...still didn't work. Now, as of 1 week after the second email to the online help, I HAVE YET TO STILL GET A REPLY to my problem. My business runs off this email. Thank goodness for sbcglobal.net!!!!!!
3 out of 5GMX Mail ServiceOctober 28, 2008
By jcscrib
It's true, GMX can be very slow at times, and it seems kind of buggy, but it is convenient. You can access all of your email accounts at one location, so if you are pressed for time, this might be for you. Space is very restricted, and it has a ways to go to be as slick as Gmail, but you can access your Gmail account through GMX. The one I have is a beta, so it will probably improve.
