What to Know
- If the deleted email is still in Trash, select it, then click Move > Inbox > D+0 (zero). (Click Restore to Inbox in older Yahoo versions.)
- Alternatively, send a restore request to Yahoo.
This article explains how to recover Yahoo mail messages that have been lost or deleted.
Undelete Mail
When you delete an email, it moves to the Trash folder, where it sits until you empty that folder. You can recover a message quickly if it's still in your Trash folder. Here's how:
-
Select the Trash folder in Yahoo Mail. You'll see it in the navigation pane at the left of the Yahoo email screen.
-
Click the check box next to each email you want to recover.
-
Click Restore to Inbox. The selected email will now show in your Inbox.
Recover Lost or Deleted Emails
To rescue lost or deleted messages you've received in the past seven days or to undelete messages after you've emptied the Trash folder:
-
Go to Yahoo! Mail's Recover lost or deleted emails page. Click Send a Restore Request.
-
Use the drop-down menu to describe the problem. In this case, select Mail: Accidentally deleted messages on webMail. There is also a selection if you use a mobile device.
-
Choose the appropriate timeframe in the drop-down list under When did you last see the missing messages. The maximum amount of time is 16 hours.
-
Fill in the other fields of the form, check the CAPTCHA box, and select Create a Request.
While you wait for Yahoo to return your Yahoo Mail account to the state it was in at the specified time from a backup copy, forward or download any new messages. The backup replaces your existing email boxes and folders.
