Color-Code Mail From a Particular Account in Live Mail or Outlook Express

Do access multiple email accounts in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express? Are the messages in one account (the work account) consistently more interesting, more urgent and more important than those from another account (the private account) — or vice versa?

To distinguish between messages received at your various email accounts at once glance of an eye, you can make Windows Mail or Outlook Express colorize the emails according to the accounts through which they were received.

To highlight mail from a particular account in a certain color in Windows Live Mail Windows Mail or Outlook Express:

  • Select Tools | Message Rules | Mail... from the menu.
  • Click New....
    • If you have not previously set up message rules, the new rule editor comes up automatically.
  • Make sure Where the message is from the specified account is checked under Select the Conditions for your rule:.
  • Under Select the Actions for your rule:, check Highlight it with color.
  • Click the highlighted and underlined specified in the Rule Description.
  • Select the desired account.
  • Click OK.
  • Now click on the highlighted color in the Rule Description.
  • Choose the desired color.
  • Click OK.
  • Type a name for your filter that will help you recognize it under Name of the rule:.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK once more.
