The default Mac OS X Mail font is nice, but sometimes even fonts should be a bit more personal than the default.

Change Fonts Quickly in Mac OS X Mail

To change the font of a message you are composing in Mac OS X Mail quickly:

  • Press Command-T.
    • Think "font" to remember this keyboard shortcut mnemonically.
  • Select the desired font from the list that pops up.
  • Press Command-T again to close the list.

If you have selected text before bringing up the list of fonts, the font you select will be applied to the selected text. If no text was highlighted, the font is applied to new text you type.

You need not close the fonts list or click back in the compose window to continue typing, by the way. To hide the list, press Command-T again.
