If you have, say, a nonet or octet of mailboxes you cherish and use the most, Mac OS X Mail lets you set up favorite folders — and keyboard shortcuts to go with them for moving.
Move Mail to Favorite Folders Fast in Mac OS X Mail
To file messages to your favorite folders quickly with the keyboard in Mac OS X Mail:
- Make sure your favored folders are set up on the Favorites bar in the order you prefer.
- Press Command-Control-1 to move the selected message or messages to the first folder (from the left) in your Favorites bar.
Use Command-Control-2 for the second mailbox, Command-Control-3 for the third and so on till Command-Control-9 for the ninth folder.
For folders to the right of the ninth in the Favorites bar, you cannot use a keyboard shortcut to file.
You can also drag and drop messages directly to the folders in the Favorites bar, of course, if it is visible.
