How to Moderate and Delete Google Buzz Comments to Your Posts in Gmail

By , About.com Guide

Oh, the joys of comments: quirky, informative, funny, interesting, enlightening, beside the point, distracting, unwanted and confusing.

In Gmail and Buzz mobile, you also have the choice of comments. You can delete your own, of course, but you can also moderate all others' comments to your posts: delete the undesired and report the spam.

Moderate Google Buzz Comments to Your Posts in Gmail

To delete select unwanted comments from a message you've posted to Google Buzz:

  • Open the Buzz post in Gmail or Buzz mobile.
  • In Gmail:
    • Click the down arrow in its top right corner.
    • Select Remove some comments… from the menu that comes up.
  • In Buzz mobile:
    • Select the right arrow at the bottom of the post and comments.
    • Choose Moderate comments or report abuse… from the menu that pops up.
  • Click Delete next to any comment you want to delete.
    • Click Report spam if the comment is spammy, abusive or otherwise offensive.

You can also report posts as spam, of course.

Disable Comments for a Google Buzz Post

To prevent future comments on a message you've posted to Google Buzz:

    • Open the Buzz post in Gmail or Buzz mobile.
    • In Gmail:
      • Click the down arrow in the buzz's top right corner.
      • Select Disable comments from the menu.
    • In Buzz mobile:
      • Select the right arrow at the bottom of the post.
      • Tap Disable comments.

Note that existing comments will not be removed and can still be edited by their authors. To prevent that, see above for deleting individual existing comments.
