How to View the Source of a Message in AIM Mail or AOL Mail

You do not normally inspect and observe your TV sets internals to watch a show or tingle a satellite's solar panel, do you? But when things do not work as expected, somebody probably does. And seeing how things work sure is interesting.

To find out how email works, the message source is a good place to start. Not only will it tell you how the information that appears in your AIM Mail or AOL Mail Inbox is constructed, you can also see normally hidden headers and get tracing information that can help find the origin of spam.

View the Source of a Message in AIM Mail or AOL Mail

To see the full source of an email message in AIM Mail or AOL Mail:

  • Open the desired message.
  • Click Action.
  • Select View Message Source from the menu.
