In Sparrow, attaching files is easy, of course, and you can count on them getting delivered, too. Any limits are essentially those of your CloudApp account, which Sparrow can use most nonchalantly to send files.
If you prefer a file not to be stored on a public server for sharing, Sparrow lets you send it as a conventional attachment, and you can freely mix traditional and CloudApp sending.
Send Files as Attachments or via CloudApp in Sparrow
To attach any file to an email conventionally in Sparrow or have it upload them to CloudApp and include a link to the hosted document automatically:
- To attach a file directly to the email and have it sent along with it (usually viable for emails up to around 10 MB in size):
- Click the Add Attachment button in the message's toolbar or
select File | Attach Files… from the menu or
press Command-Shift-A. - Highlight the files you want to attach (hold down Command to select multiple files and Shift to pick a range).
- Click Open.
- Click the Add Attachment button in the message's toolbar or
- To include a file as a CloudApp shared download (which lets you send files up to 25 MB for free and up to 250 MB in size for paid Pro accounts):
- Make sure CloudApp is enabled in Sparrow. (See below.)
- Drag and drop the file or files you want to send from Finder onto the email you are composing in Sparrow.
- Make sure a CloudApp icon appears as you hover the files over and before you release them onto the composition window.
- If you drop the files at the bottom of the composition window, a green + copying icon will appear in the blue CloudApp icon's place, and the files will be sent as traditional attachments.
- Wait for the CloudApp upload icon in the message toolbar to turn blue to indicate uploading has finished. (If you have sound enabled for CloudApp in Sparrow, you will get an audible alert when the upload is complete.)
- You can now move the link to the uploaded file to a desired place in your email.
- You can also click on the link with the right mouse button (or tap with two fingers) and select Copy Link from the menu to link any other part of your email to the file at CloudApp.
- Note that files you upload to CloudApp can be downloaded by anybody equipped with the correct link. Files at CloudApp do not expire; you can delete them at CloudApp, though.
- You can combine conventional attachments and files uploaded to CloudApp in the same email, of course.
Sparrow also supports Dropbox for sending files.
