Fortunately, it's possible to avoid this extra step and make Yahoo! Mail go to the next message (provided there is one) automatically after you have trashed the current.
Open the Next Message Automatically After Deleting in Yahoo! Mail
To have Yahoo! Mail open the next message automatically after you delete or move the current:
- Select Options | Mail Options in Yahoo! Mail.
- Go to the General category.
- Make sure Show the next message is selected under After moving/deleting message:.
- Click Save Changes.
Open the Next Message Automatically After Deleting in Yahoo! Mail Classic
To view the next message automatically after deleting in Yahoo! Mail Classic:
- Select Options from the Yahoo! Mail Classic navigation bar.
- Now follow the General Preferences link (you can find it under Personalization).
- Make sure Go to the next message afterwards. is selected under Moving/Deleting Messages:.
- Click Save.
