There are many fully featured mail checkers that aim to do everything, and then some. Fortunately, there are also small little tiny programs like NewMail that concentrate on one thing and do it well.
NewMail checks multiple POP accounts for new mail periodically and lets you know when new mail has arrived. That's about it. Of course, some additional features and options would be nice.
Support for IMAP accounts, for example, or the option to specify a different check interval for each account. Message preview and deletion would be nice, too. But all in all, NewMail is a solidly small and solidly useful tool.
