Make Sure Spamihilator Never Filters Important Mail as Spam

By , About.com Guide

Even Spamihilator, one of the best anti-spam tools combining content filters and Bayesian statistics, can make a mistake now and then.

To make sure important messages or your favorite newsletters aren't filtered as spam even then, you can add their senders as friends. Mail from senders in your Friends list is never treated as spam by Spamihilator.

I have added the whole about.com domain to my Friends list, for example, to make sure I'll never have to go look for my About newsletters in the Spamihilator Recycle bin.

To make sure Spamihilator never filters important mail as spam:

  • Click on the Spamihilator system tray icon with the right mouse button.
  • Select Settings... from the menu.
  • Go to the Senders | Friends category.
  • Click Add....
  • Type the sender's name under Sender name:.
    • For whitelisting About newsletters, enter "About", for example.
  • Enter the email address or domain you want to whitelist under Mail address:.
    • To whitelist a domain, use the wildcard character '*', which matches any character.
    • To whitelist the "about.com" domain (for About newsletters), type "*about.com", for example.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
