How to Make Sure SpamButcher Doesn't Slaughter Good Mail

By , About.com Guide

Using a set of scoring filters that apply some artificial intelligence, SpamButcher determines spam. This works reasonably well, but not without errors.

To make sure email filets (your friends' mail or newsletters, for example) isn't thrown away by SpamButcher, you can whitelist known senders. I have whitelisted the whole "about.com" domain, for example, so I can be sure the About newsletters I have subscribed to always get through.

To make sure SpamButcher doesn't slaughter mail from known senders:

  • Click the Configure button in SpamButcher.
  • Go to the Known Senders tab.
  • Click Add under Known Good Senders and Recipients.
  • Type the email address or domain you want to whitelist.
    • To whitelist a domain, simply use the domain name.
    • For whitelisting all About newsletters, for example, type "about.com".
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
