It's easy to add address book members to a mailing list in Outlook Express, but adding recipients to a mailing list without having them appear in the address book, too, is a simple thing to do, too. And it helps me keep address book and mailing lists neatly separated.
Add a Member to a Mailing List in Windows Mail
To add a new address to a distribution list you've set up in Windows Mail:
- Select Tools | Windows Contacts... from the Windows Mail menu.
- Double-click the mailing list to which you want to add subscribers.
- Type the email address of the new recipient in the E-mail: entry field at the bottom of the dialog.
- Optionally, add a name to the subscribed email address as well under Contact Name:.
- Click Create for Group Only.
- Finally, click OK and close the address book.
To add multiple addresses, repeat steps 3 and 4.
Add a Member to a Mailing List in Outlook Express
To add a new member to a mailing list you have set up in Outlook Express:
- Select Tools | Address Book... from the Outlook Express menu.
- Highlight the mailing list you want to add subscribers to in the list of address book entries.
- Click Properties.
- Type the email address of the new recipient in the E-mail: entry field at the bottom of the dialog.
- Optionally, add a name to the subscribed email address as well.
- Click Add.
- Finally, click OK and close the address book.
To add multiple addresses, repeat steps 4 and 5.
