How to Save Attachments from the Menu with Windows Mail or Outlook Express

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

If an email comes with an attachment I usually save that attachment to my Desktop (or another folder on my hard disk) for at least two reasons:
  1. to check it for viruses and
  2. to open and use it further.

Fortunately, Windows Mail and Outlook Express make saving attachments an easy matter.

Save Attachments from the Menu with Windows Mail or Outlook Express

To save an attachment from a message you receive in Windows Mail or Outlook Express:

  • Open the message in Outlook Express.
  • Select File | Save attachments... from the menu.
  • Select which attachments you want to save.
  • Specify the folder that the saved attachments should go to.
  • Click Save.

Instead of using the menu, you can also save attachments via drag-and-drop.
