Many email marketing applications try to do everything. AutoMail does not. Instead, it concentrates of the core business of merging a database with a message template and delivering the resulting personalized messages as quickly as possible.
All this can be automated, and once it is set up correctly, AutoMail is a flexible, albeit a bit crude, bulk email tool. Unfortunately, AutoMail is not particularly comfortable to use, and the lack of list management, a powerful message editor, incoming mail processing or the ability to write back to the database confine AutoMail's utility.
If AutoMail meets you needs, it meets them reliably, and without much ado.
