How to Use Rich Formatting in Your Hotmail Signature

By , About.com Guide

Your Hotmail signature can be anything, and it can be rich in formatting, too.

If you access Hotmail with Internet Explorer and Windows, you can use all the formatting tools available for composing rich emails for your signature as well.

To use rich text formatting in your email signature with Hotmail:

  • Select Options from the navigation bar in Hotmail.
  • Go to Mail category.
  • Follow the Personal Signature link.
  • Make sure Show the rich-text toolbar. is checked.
  • Format the signature to your liking.
  • Click OK.

In rich-text messages, Hotmail will automatically use the rich version of your signature while plain text messages will continue to carry a plain text variant. This makes sure all recipients get a version they can read.
