How to Make Sure Windows Live Hotmail Doesn't Ban Mailing Lists as Spam

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Mail that does not have your Windows Live Hotmail address in its To: field raises a red flag with Windows Live Hotmail's spam filters. This is true, of course, for a lot of spam. But it may also be the case with some mailing lists you have signed up for. To avoid having these messages removed from your Inbox as spam automatically by Windows Live Hotmail, you can put them on a safe list.

Make Sure Windows Live Hotmail Doesn't Ban Mailing Lists as Spam

To make sure Windows Live Hotmail does not ban mailing list messages as spam:

  • Select Options | More Options... (or just Options) from the Windows Live Hotmail toolbar.
  • Click Safe and blocked senders under Junk e-mail.
  • Follow the Safe mailing lists link.
  • Enter the email address that shows up in the To: field of messages that come from a particular mailing list under To address for the mailing list:.
  • Click Add to list >>.

Similar to mailing lists, you can also protect individual senders from falling victim to the spam filters in Windows Live Hotmail.
