When a strange kind of glass is so light as almost to float mid-air on earth — it still takes a rocket's solid boosters to send it to a nearby comet. With the Stardust mission, aerogel (silica gel minus the moisture) flew by Wild 2 collecting specks of dust from the comet's tail as well as interstellar space.
When scientists examined a tube where something had hit the aerogel early in the year 2006, they found at its end a piece of comet dust shaped like — a heart. Looks like the fairy in this email stationery might bring something similar in her trail for Saint Valentine's Day:
