How to Get a Free Zoho Mail Account

This article explains how to set up a free email account with Zoho, a suite of web-based applications designed for businesses. These instructions apply to the web version of Zoho Mail. All steps are the same regardless of which browser you use.

How to Sign Up for a Free Zoho Mail Account

An ad-free personal Zoho Mail account comes with 5GB of online message storage. All you need to set up Zoho Mail is an active mobile number that can receive text messages. To set up a free personal Zoho Mail account with an @zoho.com address:

  1. Go to the Zoho Mail Sign Up page and select Personal Email.

    A Zoho business account comes with all the tools for managing communication and information in a group setting, making it more ideal for work related emails.

  2. Type your preferred username (the part that comes before @zoho.com in your email address) in the Email Address field.

    You can also sign up for a free Zoho.com email address using Google or a social media by clicking the icons at the bottom of the submission form.

  3. Complete the rest of the form:

    • Enter a password in the Password field. Create a mail password that is easy enough to remember and sufficiently hard to guess.
    • Type your first and last names in the fields provided. You don't have to use your real name.
    • Enter a phone number where you can receive SMS messages, and then confirm it by entering the number again.

    Do not include the dashes in the phone number. Enter only a 10 digit string of numbers (your number plus the area code) with no punctuation. For example: 9315550712

  4. Check the box to agree to Zoho's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then select Sign Up for Free.

  5. Enter the verification code received on your phone in the space provided, then select Verify My Mobile.

  6. Set up two-factor authentication, or select Remind me later in the lower-right corner.

  7. Read the introductory tutorial to learn about your new Zoho Mail account, or select Skip in the lower-right corner.

The Zoho Mail interface is similar to other popular services like Yahoo Mail and Gmail. It also includes many of the same features such as folders, a built-in spam filter, and desktop notifications. Select New Mail to compose your first message.

In addition to your mailbox, you now also have a Zoho Calendar, so you can set reminders for important events.
