How to Edit Group Members Before Sending in Windows Live Mail or Outlook Express

By , About.com Guide

Using address book groups, you can set up a distribution list in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express and easily deliver the same message to a group of people. But what if you want a message to go to all but two members?

When you address a message to a group in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express and press Send, it is delivered to all group members and you have no chance of editing the recipient list.

Edit Group Members Before Sending in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express

If you

  • select File | Save,

however, and close the message, Outlook Express will put the message in the Drafts folder instead of delivering it immediately. And in doing so Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail and Outlook Express expand the group to its members. Now

  • go to the Drafts folder and
  • open the message.

You will find the individual group members where you entered the group name in the To:, Cc: or Bcc: field. Now you can edit this list as you like and finally deliver the message with the Send button.
