Guide Review - POP before SMTP Mail Proxy 3.0 - Email Program Add-On
Unfortunately, not all email clients support POP Before SMTP and fail to send mail through such servers. Of course you could manually check your account every time before sending mail. Or you use the really useful POP Before SMTP Mail Proxy, which acts as a proxy between your email client and the mail server, adding the POP authentication automatically.
Setting up POP Before SMTP Mail Proxy could be a tad easier, and it is a pity POP Before SMTP Mail Proxy requires the old and more or less abandoned MS Java Virtual Machine to be installed, but once it runs, POP Before SMTP Mail Proxy runs silently and just works.
