Use Yahoo! Mail or Gmail Keyboard Shortcuts in Windows Live Hotmail
To enable keyboard shortcuts you know from Yahoo! Mail or Gmail in Windows Live Hotmail:
- Select Options | More options in Windows Live Hotmail.
- Follow the Change keyboard shortcuts link under Customize your mail.
- To use Yahoo! Mail keyboard shortcuts:
- Make sure Yahoo! Mail is selected under Select which mode you'd like to use:.
- To use Gmail keyboard shortcuts:
- Make sure Gmail is selected under Select which mode you'd like to use:.
- Click Save.
Note that enabling Yahoo! Mail or Gmail keyboard shortcuts in Windows Live Hotmail will replace all existing shortcuts. If Gmail does not offer a key combination for sending a message, Windows Live Hotmail will not fall back to its native shortcut.
Yahoo! Mail Keyboard Shortcuts You Can Use in Windows Live Hotmail
In the Message List
- N: Start composing a new message
- M: Go to the Inbox folder
- S: Focus the Search your e-mail field
With Messages Checked
- Del: Delete checked mail
- Shift-K: Mark checked mail as unread
- K: Mark checked mail as read
- P: Print checked mail (continuously)
With a Message Open in the Preview Pane or its Own
- Del: Delete the message
- R: Reply to the message sender
- A: Reply to the message sender and all recipients (except yourself)
- F: Forward the message
- Esc: Close the message
- Shift-K: Mark the message as unread
- K: Mark the message as read
- Ctrl-.: Go to the next message
- Ctrl-,: Go to the previous message
While Composing a Message
- Alt-S: Send the message
- Ctrl-S: Save the message as a draft to the Drafts folder
