Guide Review - Text Monkey PRO 1.0 - Email Cleanup ToolIf your friends mean well and forward all the most funny stuff they get via email you probably find not only that but also not so funny broken formatting in your email inbox. Email programs that insert '>' characters in all the wrong places and, worse, break lines in a way that breaks every attempt to read fluently make it difficult to enjoy the forwarded fun, and it's embarrassing to send something so jumbled on.
Text Monkey PRO to the rescue! If you have set up Text Monkey to automatically process text copied to the clipboard that it identifies as an email (it is pretty smart about that), you have nothing to do at all. Text Monkey automatically removes the quotation characters, removes unnecessary spaces and empty lines while trying to preserve formatting where it makes sense (with lists, for example, or when a new paragraph starts). The result is a very readable and very forwardable text. If you feel like it, you can have Text Monkey rewrite the text using instant messaging lingo or "ÇraZ" characters, and it can strip HTML formatting from the source of emails, too. While you will find lots of very useful text processing tools in Text Monkey's (not so ideal) tab interface and while these even include one for indenting text, Text Monkey is not apt for doing your email client's job when it comes to replying: it cannot flexibly quote and rewrap text. But this and the single level undo are about the only drawbacks. Related Guide Picks |
