Description
Guide Review - 0Spam.com - Spam Filtering ServiceIf maintaining and checking a spam filter is more work than deleting the spam it purportedly stops, that may be a nice exercise in programming and patience, but it is not particularly efficient.
0Spam.com is a spam filtering service you can set up and forget. If somebody mails you, 0Spam will diligently check if the message is from an approved sender and allow it through or challenge the sender to approve themselves. Via a smart and easy to set up proxy setup, all this works transparently, even with Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail and Gmail accounts. Unfortunately, senders can not authorize via an audible alternative to the standard visual challenge. And while you can import address books to 0Spam.com and set up keyword filters (messages containing a whitelisted keyword get through), a smart global whitelist may make life easier for senders of newsletters and mailing list admins. 0Spam also cannot automatically whitelist people you mail. Another nice addition to 0Spam.com's basic service would be the option to create disposable email addresses that allow messages through without prior authorization. Some filtering prior to the challenge could allow 0Spam.com to avoid mailing obvious spammers while junk email coming form an already whitelisted address gets through. IMAP accounts are not fully supported by 0Spam.com. |
