- Newshutch lets you read RSS news feeds via a web interface.
- You can organize feed in categories.
- Newshutch can show you only new, unread items and marks what you have seen read automatically.
- It's easy to add feeds to Newshutch using Mozilla Firefox integration, a bookmarklet or OPML support.
- Newshutch can create neat and legible printouts of stories.
A distinctly simple interface lets you add feeds (OPML is supported, so you can just import your list from another aggregator) and displays them in a highly legible manner. As you scroll to the bottom of the page, older items are loaded in place. You don't even have to click.
Unfortunately, Newshutch does not automatically mark as read only those items you have seen: it's either the entire feed or nothing. Of course, you can manually mark stories read or, and this is where the potential for real tediousness begins, prevent them from being marked read automatically.
Folders and flags lets you organize feeds and items respectively, but you'll look in vain for a way to read all feeds in a folder at once. You have to visit each source individually. While a few handy keyboard shortcuts let you go the next feed or catch up with unread stories quickly, more (to go from item to item, for example, or follow links to full stories) would be great.
All in all, Newshutch looks and reads great, especially if you follow only a handful of feeds and don't organize much. Newshutch's pretty printing is a plus.
