You can. In addition to email accounts, you can access RSS feeds in PocoMail, and in very similar a manner. When checking for new messages, PocoMail will check for new items in the feeds you subscribed to as well, and download them to a folder of your choice.
Subscribe to an RSS News Feed in PocoMail
To add to an RSS feed subscription to PocoMail:
- Select Tools | Account Setup... from the menu.
- Click New Account.
- Make sure RSS account is selected under Account Type.
- Type the name of the site or blog or feed you are subscribing to under Account display name:.
- You have to set up a separate account for each feed, so meaningful names help differentiate them. PocoMail will not automatically take the account name from the feed.
- Click Next >.
- Copy the link to the RSS feed from the web site you want to subscribe to. (Look for the orange RSS icon.)
- Paste the link in the Feed URL: field.
- Now you can choose a checking interval on the Incoming tab (for most feeds, once or twice a day will be enough) and decide which folder you want new items to appear in on the Folders tab. Alternatively, you can also choose not to have PocoMail check for news automatically and only read the feed when you feel like it.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
Note that PocoMail does not currently read Atom feeds, so choose the RSS feed if the site makes one available.
