How to Change the Default Font for Outgoing Mail in Pegasus Mail

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Arial, Arial, Arial! 10pt! Sure, if I send the message as plain text in Pegasus Mail, it will display in whatever font the reader prefers. But still I do not like Arial, I want to eliminate it from all parts of my screen. And I really don't want to force it unto anybody, not even my enemies, when I send my message with rich formatting applied.

Of course, there are other (better) reasons why you would want to change the default font used by Pegasus Mail when you start a new message. Whatever the reason, though, the method is always the same, and always easy.

Change the Default Font for Outgoing Mail in Pegasus Mail

To make a custom font your default for outgoing messages in Pegasus Mail:

  • Create a new message.
  • Select Message | Font... from the menu.
  • Choose the desired font Face and Size.
    • You can also set your font to be bold or italic by default.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Cancel.
  • Now click Yes to discard the message.
    • Alternatively, you can use the message window to compose and send a message, of course. The font setting will be saved in both cases.
