How to Make Outlook Ignore the Font Specified in Stationery

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

You like the background, but not the font? You appreciate the animation, but not the font? You want the logo — but not the font?

Email stationery in Outlook is nice and helpful, but it can interfere with the fonts you desire and have set to be your defaults. Of course, you can edit the stationery to match your choice. Or you tell Outlook to ignore fonts specified in stationery and just use your default, no matter what.

Make Outlook Ignore the Font Specified in Stationery

To set Outlook to ignore fonts specified in stationery and use the default instead when composing a message:

  • Select Tools | Options... from the menu.
  • Go to the Mail Format tab.
  • Click Fonts... under Stationery and Fonts.
  • Make sure either Always use my fonts or Use my font when replying to and forwarding messages is selected under Stationery fonts.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
