Outlook Inserts Name in Square Brackets, Bold
Outlook seems to have thought you wanted to add your name, too. And not only that: it should be bold and italicized, of course!
The idea of having any changes you make to the original part of a reply or forward is honorable, of course, but its execution often unneeded and annoying.
Sure, you can delete the name and square brackets Outlook has inserted, but shouldn't there be a way to stop them from being inserted in the first place? There is.
Prevent Outlook from Adding Your Name When You Edit Forwards
To stop Outlook from marking any changes you make to the original message when forwarding:
- Select Tools | Options... from the menu.
- Go to the Preferences tab.
- Click E-mail Options... under E-mail.
- Make sure Mark my comments with: is not checked.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
