How to Change the Account Order in Outlook

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

When you upgraded to Outlook 2002, the order in which multiple email accounts are processed may not have been retained. Or maybe you have just added a new account and now want it to be processed near the beginning of a Send/Receive cycle.

Change the Account Order in Outlook

To change the order of your email accounts in Outlook:

  • Select Control Panel from the Start menu.
  • Open the Mail item.
  • Select E-mail Accounts from the Mail Setup dialog.
  • In Outlook 2003:
    • Make sure View or change existing e-mail accounts is selected.
    • Click Next.
  • Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to change the processing order as desired.
  • Click Close or Finish.
