How to Turn On or Off Address Auto-Completion in Windows Mail or Outlook Express

By , About.com Guide

Having Windows Mail or Outlook Express complete addresses as you start typing in an email's To: field is most convenient — and extremely dangerous.

If two similar names ever fooled you into sending a sensitive message to the wrong person, you may want to prevent similar gaffes in the future. If you always have to type all email addresses by hand, you probably wonder where the convenience is.

Fortunately, Windows Mail and Outlook Express can satisfy both needs: it's easy to turn address auto-completion on or off. If you delete the dangerous address from the auto-complete list, you can even satisfy both needs at the same time.
