By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Have you just graduated from college and, while gaining alumni status, lost your campus email address? Has somebody told you your IMAP account were screwed up and that you had better headed for a fresh start? Have you set up an account two times by accident?

Whatever the motivation, deleting an account from Windows Mail or Outlook Express is always easy. If you just need to change your email address and account details (such as the server name and port), you can also modify an existing account, of course.

While removing an account will not delete any messages stored locally in Windows Mail or Outlook Express (messages in IMAP accounts are stored on the server and while removing the account from will not delete the messages, you will not be able to access them in Windows Mail or Outlook Express any longer), backing up your Outlook Express message store is always a good idea. This might be the ideal occasion.
