Windows Mail and
Outlook Express can automatically connect to the internet when they check for new mail, and they can hang up automatically when they have finished, too. The latter can become a real nuisance when Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express keeps disconnecting you while you want to keep the connection and continue browsing the web. Fortunately, Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail and Outlook Express can be prevented from hanging up so rigorously.
Prevent Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express from Hanging Up Your Connection
To prevent Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express from disconnecting automatically:
- Select Tools | Options... from the menu.
- Hold down the Alt key if you cannot see the menu bar in Windows Live Mail.
- Go to the Connection tab.
- Under Dial-up, make sure Hang up after sending and receiving is not checked.
- Click OK.
