How to Adjust Printer Margins and Orientation in Windows Mail or Outlook Express

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Be it for reasons aesthetic or practical ("when I print an email, the beginning of each line is missing!"), changing the margins or page orientation used for printing in Windows Mail or Outlook Express can be a desirable goal. Unfortunately, that goal can also be frustrating and seemingly unattainable: there is no way to set printer margins in Windows Mail or Outlook Express.

Fortunately, that does not mean you cannot choose the margins you desire or switch from landscape to portrait mode. You just have to look and do it elsewhere.

Adjust Printer Margins and Orientation in Windows Mail or Outlook Express

To set the margins used for printing emails in Windows Mail or Outlook Express:

  • Launch Internet Explorer.
  • Select File | Page Setup... from the menu.
    • You may have to hold down the Alt key to see the menu.
  • Adjust the margins (under Margins) and page orientation (under Orientation) to your liking.
  • Click OK.
