How to Use a Default Stationery in Outlook Express

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com Guide

Using stationery, not only you can send perfect Christmas greetings or birthday congratulations, you can also beautify the everday email in multiple ways. — Why not do it by default with every message?

Outlook Express allows you to define a default stationery that is automatically applied when you start composing a new email.

Use a Default Stationery in Outlook Express

To make a stationery the default for new messages in Outlook Express:

  • Select Tools | Options... from the menu.
  • Go to the Compose tab.
  • Make sure Mail: is checked under Stationery.
  • Click the corresponding Select... button.
  • Choose the desired stationery and click OK.
  • Click OK again.

The default stationery is not used when you reply to a message in Outlook Express, but you can manually apply a stationery.

Use Different Stationery for a Message

Of course, you can still create messages that do not use any stationery even if you have defined a default stationery.
