How to Change the Name From Which Your Emails are Sent in Windows Mail or OE

If you can't seem to fall asleep at night because inspiration keeps you awake, do you feel the need to write down the poetic lines that appear before your mental eye so effortlessly? But merely bringing the verse to paper is not enough, that would mean to waste it. Good prose demands to be shared, and what better way is there to share spontaneously created text with the world than email? But you need a pseudonym!

Or has the person who set up your email account in Windows Mail or Outlook Express used an odd nickname, and all your emails come from a name you did not choose and do not like? Or is it simply time for a change?

Change the Name From Which Your Emails are Sent in Windows Mail or Outlook Express

To change the name from which your emails are sent in Windows Mail or Outlook Express:

  • Select Tools | Accounts... from the menu.
  • Go to the Mail tab.
  • Highlight the desired email account.
  • Click Properties.
  • Make sure the General tab is selected.
  • Type the name you want to appear in the From: line of your emails in the Name: field under User Information.
  • Click OK.
  • Now click Close.
