Guide Review - Attensa for Outlook 2.5 - Free RSS Feed Reader
Once upon a time, Attensa for Outlook was called "You Subscribe:RSS" for a reason: finding and subscribing to RSS feeds is particularly easy in Attensa for Outlook. Not only can you browse a comprehensive list of feeds, not only can you import from other readers easily, there are also plug-ins for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox that scan sites for feeds as you visit them, and you can set up search feeds for many a search service.
Once you are subscribed, Attensa for Outlook works in a very straight forward manner. It refreshes feeds periodically and unobtrusively in the background while the update interval and the target Outlook folder can be set per feed.
If you also use the free web-based Attensa Online reader, Attensa can synchronize all subscriptions and items seamlessly. You cannot refresh a feed manually in Attensa for Outlook, though, and a way to read all news of a folder (and possibly its sub-folders) on a newspaper-like page would be nice.
Podcasts and other feed enclosures can be downloaded and added to media players automatically. Of course, Attensa's nice integration with Outlook lets you use all its searching and archiving features, but it adds a powerful trick of its own, too: you can tag articles easily and with full del.icio.us integration.
If you want more than bookmarking, Attensa lets you post to a blog as well.
