Outlook Auto CC and BCC Email Addresses

Easily CC or BCC the right people in your outgoing messages

Auto CC and BCC for Outlook make it easy to copy certain email addresses automatically on outgoing mail. Filters let you decide what kind of message is Cc'd or Bcc'd and to whom.

Instructions in this article apply to Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010; and Outlook for Microsoft 365.

Why Automate CC and BCC in Outlook?

There are many reasons to automatically CC or BCC people in specific emails that you send. For example, to send your manager a copy of emails that you send to specific clients or to send your partner copies of email correspondence to your insurance company.

How to Automate CC and BCC in Outlook

To automatically CC or BCC people, create a rule on all outgoing email.

  1. Open Outlook and go to the Home tab.

  2. Select Rules > Manage Rules & Alerts.

    In Outlook 2016 and older versions, go to File and select Manage Rules & Alerts. These versions contain an option to add an auto BCC to rules. In later versions of Outlook, the BCC option is not available.

  3. In the Rules and Alerts dialog box, select New Rule.

  4. In the Rules Wizard, select Apply rule on messages I send, then select Next.

  5. Select the sent to people or public group check box.

  6. Select the people or public group link and add the email addresses you want as part of this rule. Select Next to continue.

  7. Select the Cc the message to people or public group check box.

  8. Select the people or public group link and enter the email addresses you want to automatically CC the email to.

  9. Select Finish.

More About Auto CC and BCC in Outlook

When adding CC and BCC rules in Outlook, the following options are available:

  • Add email addresses to the Cc: and Bcc: fields of outgoing messages automatically.
  • Add recipients to all emails, or use Auto CC and BCC with Outlook's rules to specify conditions.
  • Look for subjects, other recipients, attachment names, or the account used.
  • Select Auto CC and BCC for Outlook recipients from your Outlook contacts.

Using Auto CC and BCC in Outlook

Outlook's Auto CC and BCC rules automatically copy messages to the right people. Using rules, specify the email addresses you want to add to either the Cc: or the Bcc: field of outgoing messages when certain criteria are met such as an email from a particular account, or with certain recipients, subjects, or attachments.
