How to Avoid Date Misinterpretations in Emails

By , About.com Guide

07/08. That's July 8. No doubt about that. Or is it? In another area of the world, this may be the 7th of August. No doubt about that. With some misfortune, this area is where your email messages ends up.

Avoid Date Misinterpretations in Emails

This is why you should

  • spell out the month

to avoid confusion about dates in your messages. Write July 8, 8 July or JUL 8 or something similar instead of 07/08 or 07-08.

This makes life easier for everyone (although, of course, misinterpretations can be formidable sources of fun).
