Create a Filter from an Existing Message in Mozilla Thunderbird or Netscape

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Filters that move all mail from a certain sender to a special folder are extremely useful (to have the really important and the not-so-important emails sorted out right away and automatically), and in Mozilla Thunderbird, Netscape or Mozilla they are extremely easy to create, too.

Create a Filter from an Existing Message in Mozilla Thunderbird or Netscape

To create a filter from an existing message in Mozilla Thunderbird, Netscape or Mozilla:

  • Open the message either in the preview pane or in its own window.
  • Click on the sender's name or email address.
    • In either case the thing to click is the highlighted text following From:.
  • Select Create Filter from Message... from the menu.
  • Select your desired action under Perform this action:.
  • Click OK.

As an alternative to using the sender's context menu, you can select Message | Create Filter from Message... from the Mozilla Thunderbird, Netscape or Mozilla menu.
