How to Access a Free GMX Mail Account in Mac OS X Mail

You deserve to read your GMX Mail messages everywhere with just a browser and get desktop program-like comfort. You deserve to read your GMX Mail messages in Mac OS X Mail and get seamless access to all your online folders. You deserve simple downloading only new messages to OS X Mail, too.

With IMAP and POP access, you can set up GMX Mail in Mac OS X Mail just about any way you like.

Access a Free GMX Mail Account in Mac OS X Mail Using IMAP

To seamlessly access all a GMX Mail account's folders in Mac OS X Mail using IMAP:

  • Select Mail | Preferences... from the menu in Mac OS X Mail.
  • Go to the Accounts category.
  • Click + beneath the Accounts list.
  • Enter your name under Full Name:.
  • Type your GMX Mail address (say, "example@gmx.us") under Email Address:.
  • Put your GMX Mail password in the Password: field.
  • Click Continue.
  • Make sure IMAP is selected under Account Type:.
  • Enter "GMX Mail" under Description:.
  • Type "imap.gmx.com" (not including the quotation marks) under Incoming Mail Server:.
  • Enter your full GMX Mail address ("example@gmx.us", for example) under User Name:.
  • Click Continue.
  • Enter "GMX Mail" under Description: again for Outgoing Mail Server.
  • Type "mail.gmx.com" (excluding the quotation marks) under Outgoing Mail Server:.
  • Leave Use only this server checked.
  • Make sure Use Authentication is also checked.
  • Verify your full GMX Mail address is in the User Name: field.
  • Click Continue.
  • Now click Create.
  • Close the Accounts preferences window.
  • Open the Sent folder under GMX MAIL.
  • Select Mailbox | Use This Mailbox For | Sent from the menu.
  • Now go to the Trash folder under GMX MAIL.
  • Select Mailbox | Use This Mailbox For | Trash from the menu.
  • Open the Spam folder under GMX MAIL.
  • Select Mailbox | Use This Mailbox For | Junk from the menu.

Access a Free GMX Mail Account in Mac OS X Mail Using IMAP

To download mail from a GMX Mail account into Mac OS X Mail using POP (and send through GMX Mail, too, of course):

  • Select Mail | Preferences... from the menu in Mac OS X Mail.
  • Go to the Accounts category.
  • Click + beneath the Accounts list.
  • Enter your name under Full Name:.
  • Type your GMX Mail address ("example@gmx.us" for, well, example) under Email Address:.
  • Put your GMX Mail password in the Password: field.
  • Click Continue.
  • Make sure POP is selected under Account Type:.
  • Enter "GMX Mail" under Description:.
  • Type "pop.gmx.com" (not including the quotation marks) under Incoming Mail Server:.
  • Enter your full GMX Mail address (say, "example@gmx.us") under User Name:.
  • Click Continue.
  • Enter "GMX Mail" under Description: again.
  • Type "mail.gmx.com" (excluding the quotation marks) under Outgoing Mail Server:.
  • Leave Use only this server checked.
  • Make sure Use Authentication is also checked.
  • Verify your full GMX Mail address is in the User Name: field.
  • Click Continue.
  • Now click Create.
  • Close the Accounts preferences window.
