How to Access Outlook.com Email With Apple Mail

  • On a Mac, go to Mail > Add Account > Other Mail Account > Continue. Enter info, select Sign In, and complete the sign in.
  • On an iOS device, go to Settings > Mail > Accounts Add Account > Outlook > Sign In, and then complete the sign in.

This article explains how to access Outlook.com email from Apple Mail on macOS Sierra and above or on a device with iOS 13 and above.

Access Outlook.com With Apple Mail on the Desktop

Here's how to configure Apple Mail to connect to Outlook.com on a Mac.

  1. Open Mail and select Mail > Add Account from the menu.

    If this is your first time opening Mail (that is, you haven't set up an account before), skip this first step.

  2. Select Other Mail Account and then select Continue.

  3. Enter your name, email address, account password, and select Sign In.

  4. Apple Mail should automatically fill in IMAP as Outlook.com's Account Type, along with the incoming and outgoing server addresses.

    If you have to type in the information manually, select IMAP. For the Incoming Mail Server, enter imap-mail.outlook.com. For the Outgoing Mail Server, enter smtp-mail.outlook.com.

  5. Select Sign In again.

  6. Select Next.

  7. Select the apps you want to use with this account. Make sure to check Mail.

  8. Select Done. Your Outlook.com mail will now be accessible from your list of Mailboxes.
