Your sales team, your soccer team and your team of like-minded art buffs are united not only by common goals but also by constant communication. If you want to send a message to all members of your soccer team in Mac OS X Mail, you can enter their addresses one by one in the Bcc: field, of course.
You can also turn the team members into a group in your Mac OS X address book, however, and address messages to all of them not only with much more elegance and easy but also with unprecedented speed.
Create an Address Book Group for List Mailing in OS X Mail
To create a group in your Mac OS X Mail address book for easily emailing a list of people:
- Open Contacts.
- Select File | New Group from the menu.
- Type the desired name of your new mailing list.
- Press Enter.

You can add new members to your OS X Mail mailing list by drawing from existing contacts or by adding to a group specifically.

- Open OS X Contacts.
- Make sure the groups list is visible.
- Select View | Show Groups from the menu if it is not.
- Highlight All Contacts in the Group column.
- Drag and drop the desired contacts to the group in the Group column.
- If more than one email address is listed, Mac OS X Mail will use the most recently used address when you send a message to the list.
To add a contact to an OS X Address Book group:
- Open Contacts.
- Make sure the groups list is open.
- Highlight the desired group.
- Click the + sign underneath contact card.
- Enter all desired contact details.
- Make sure you think of adding at least one email address.
- The contact will also show up under the All Contacts group automatically.
