Question: How Can I Change the Default Mac OS X Email Program?
You use PowerMail, and you browse the web, too. Sometimes, you click on an email address or "contact us" link — and up pops Mail, which you do not use.
Fret no longer. Mac OS X lets you pick your favorite email program to launch automatically. You can leave Mail open (just this one time) to make the switch, too.
Answer: To set the default Mac OS X email program:
- Launch Mail.
- You can find Mail in the /Applications folder.
- Select Mail | Preferences from the menu.
- Go to the General tab.
- Select the desired email program from the Default email reader: (or Default E-mail Reader) drop-down menu.
- Close Mail.
