How to Access Windows Live Hotmail in Windows Live Mail

Windows Live Mail is linked to a Windows Live account (and its address book) from the time you set it up.

That does not mean you cannot add other email accounts, of course, or remove the initial Windows Live Hotmail account — or add another.

Since Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail know each other so well, adding further accounts of the latter type is particularly easy, in fact.

Access Windows Live Hotmail in Windows Live Mail

To use a Windows Live Hotmail account in Windows Live Mail:

• Go to Mail under Shortcuts in Windows Live Mail.
• Click Add an e-mail account at the bottom.
• Type your name under Your name:.
• Enter your full Windows Live Hotmail address under E-mail address:.
• Make sure Automatically determine my login ID is checked.
• Type your Windows Live Hotmail password under Password:.
• Make sure Manually configure server settings for e-mail account. is not checked.
• Click Next >.
• Optionally, check Set this account as the default mail account.
• Click Finish.
