How to Empty the "Deleted Items" Folder in IncrediMail to Purge Trashed Mail

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

I have made it a habit to have but one large trash can in my apartments — that gives me many a chance to get up from work, and since that single container is emptied often, trash does not stay around for long. (I do sort out things that can be recycled in a sensible manner, though.)

In IncrediMail, the single Deleted Items folder serves another purpose (one that, I must admit, my solid-world trash can has been used for as well): you can undelete messages that accidentally made it to the trash. To make sure the Deleted Items folder does not grow indefinitely, you have to empty it from time to time — when you are sure the messages in it are no longer needed.

To permanently delete all messages kept in your IncrediMail's Deleted Items folder:

  • Select Edit | Empty 'Deleted Items' Folder from the menu.
  • Click Yes.

Have IncrediMail Empty Deleted Items Automatically

If you're a fan of all things automatic and do not enjoy the conscious emptying of your trash, you can also have IncrediMail do it automatically for you whenever you exit the program.
