How to Set Up iCloud Mail IMAP Access in Your Email Program

By , About.com Guide

iCloud Mail is ubiquitously accessible on the web and swiftly set up in Mac OS X Mail and on iOS devices, of course. It is just about as easy, though, to add iCloud Mail to practically every email program — on desktop computers, phones and tablets — using IMAP.

IMAP affords you not only the most recent messages in your inbox but also seamless access to all folders, filing across devices and sent mail synchronization.

Set Up iCloud Mail IMAP Access in Your Email Program

To access iCloud Mail via IMAP in your email program, set up a new IMAP account with the following settings:

  • IMAP server: imap.mail.me.com (try p99-imap.mail.me.com if you run into bumps)
  • Port: 993
  • Require TLS/SSL: Yes
  • User name: your iCloud Mail email address
    • Do include "@me.com"; if your iCloud Mail address is "me@me.com", for instance, use "me@me.com" as your user name.
  • Password: your iCloud password
  • SMTP server: smtp.mail.me.com
  • Port: 587
  • Require TLS/SSL: Yes
  • User name: your iCloud Mail email address
  • Password: your iCloud password
