How to Subscribe to a Feed in Google Reader

Google Reader will show you what and whatever you want, but only after you have told it what that is. Overall, Google Reader knows two approaches to finding and subscribing to the news feeds you like.

If you have found one of the orange RSS icons on a site or blog, adding that feed to Google Reader is easy. But you can also search for content right in Google Reader and add what you like to your subscriptions.

Subscribe to a Feed in Google Reader

To subscribe to a feed in Google Reader when you know the feed address:

  • Click on the feed icon, address or link on the site you want to subscribe to with the right mouse button.
  • Select "Copy Shortcut", "Copy Link" or a similar command from the menu that copies the linked address to the clipboard.
  • In Google Reader, select Subscriptions.
  • Click Add.
  • Paste the address you previously copied.
    • Press Ctrl-V or Command-V while the focus is on the field.
  • Click Add.
  • If you like what you see in the feed preview, click Subscribe.
  • Follow the Return to your reading list link.

To subscribe to a feed in Google Reader when you're just looking for interesting sites:
