How to Add a Background Image to Your Google Calendar Date Sheet

How many calendars have you hung unto your walls that were but black letters on white — not mostly but exclusively? Why, then, stare at bland calendar sheet day in day out in Google Calendar?

Fortunately, adding any image from the web or your computer as a backdrop to events and appointments is easy.

Add a Background Image to Your Google Calendar Date Sheet

To deck your Google Calendar's sheet out with a custom image in the background:

  • Make sure Background image is enabled (see below).
  • Click Settings in the Google Calendar top navigation bar.
  • Go to the General tab.
  • Paste the desired background image's URL in the Enter image URL: field under Calendar background:.
    • If you want to replace an existing image, click remove first under Calendar background:.
    • You can find royalty-free images you can use under a creative commons license, for example, on stock image, photo sharing and image search sites.
  • Click Preview.
  • Choose for the image to be Centered, Scaled to Fit or Tiled under Image display style:.
  • Click Save.

Enable "Background image" in Google Calendar

To turn on Background image in Google Calendar:

  • Follow the Settings link in Google Calendar.
  • Go to the Labs tab.
  • Make sure Enable is selected for Background image.
  • Click Save.
